Committed to the growth of Hong Kong’s electronics industries -
Hong Kong
has in its cradle all sectors of the electronics industry and
technology fronts. To support the growth of these industries, Hong
Kong has various associations committed to the electronics sector.
Aiming to foster Hong Kong as the technological business hub of Asia
and the gateway to china, there are three key industry groups
helping electronics makers to congregate, develop innovative
products, and to build networks. These associations are the Hong
Kong Electronics Industry Association (HKEIA), the Hong Kong
Critical Components Manufacturers Association (HKCCMA), and the
America Hong Kong Electronics Association (AHKEA).
Apart from these groups, there is a statutory body set up by the
Hong Kong Government, the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks
Corporation (HKSTP), to lead the transformation of Hong Kong into
Asia’s hub for technology innovation in the areas of electronics,
biotechnology, precision engineering, and IT & telecommunications.
Leveraging on the close ties between Hong Kong and the Pan Pearl
River Delta (PPRD) of Southern China, HKSTP aims to bolster Hong
Kong’s role in the economic development of the PPRD and as a
provider of hi-tech services and products in Asia-Pacific.
HKSTP provides a comprehensive range of services to cater for the
needs of industry at various stages. These include offering a
series of management and technical support programs through
partnership with the
industry and
universities,
nurturing technology start-ups through the
Incu-Tech
program,
allocating advanced facilities and support
services in the Science Park for applied R&D activities, and
providing land in the three
industrial
estates for high-tech manufacturing. HKSTP also has
IC
Design/ Development Support Centre and a
Photonics
Development Support Centre
for its tenants and
incubates.
