Linux Business Adoption Campaign Launch Ceremony
and "Linux - Head Start for Hong Kong " Seminar

Information Technology Services Department of the HKSAR, Hong Kong Productivity Council and Hong Kong Linux Industry Association are organising a "Linux Business Adoption Campaign" in Hong Kong during September to December 2003. The aim is to provide information and best practices in implementing information technology systems and deploying applications on the Linux platform. The campaign covers a wide range of activities, including "Linux Total Cost of Ownership Analysis", "Linux Solution Seminar Series", "Linux Business Adoption Award" and "Linux Business Adoption Awardee Seminar Series".

A Linux Business Adoption Campaign Launch Ceremony and "Linux - Head Start for Hong Kong " Seminar was held on Sept 16, 2003 at Exhibition Hall, 4/F, Hong Kong Productivity Council Building, Kowloon Tong.

The ceremony was started at 2:15 pm, Dr. WC Keung, Branch Director of IT and Services, HKPC, and Mr. David Chow, Chairman of Hong Kong Linux Industry Associations delivered a Welcome speech respectively.  Mr. Alan Wong, Director of Information Technology Services, Information Technology Services Department, also addressed some keynotes. 

Following  a souvenir presentation and ribbon-cut ceremony, a press conference was held at 2/F Press Conference room. Dr. WC Keung, Mr. Alan Wong, Mr. David Chow and Mr. Kelvin Ng answered questions from press about Linux business adoption.

During seminar section, the following four talks were delivered:

"Morgan Stanley Linux Strategy and Implementation Experience in Mission Critical Application"
Mr. Roderick Greenwood, Executive Director, Morgan Stanley Dean Writter Asia Limited

The Seminar was ended at 5:00 pm, but the Linux Business Adoption Campaign has just started and will be carried on till  December 2003.
