2 nd Optoelectronics Day
Optoelectronics is one of the most pervasive
technology in the 21 st century touching on almost every part of
our daily lives from communication to consumer areas including
personal connectivity, entertainment, advertising, information
storage and common application in workplace and at home. Thus
Optoelectronics Solution Group is one of AHKEA 15 solution
group, and some Optoelectronics related events have been
organized. The program included visit to CIOE show (China
International Optoelectronics Expo), networking lunch and visit
to one Optoelectronics manufacturer in Shenzhen.
Following the 1
st Optoelectronics-Day on June 27, 2003, the 2 nd
Optoelectronics Day was Jointly organized on Sept 6, 2003 by
America Hong Kong Electronics Association (AHKEA) and
Hong Kong Optoelectronics
Association (HKOEA), and supported by
Hong Kong Photography and Optics Manufacturers Association
(HKPOMA) and Hong Kong Critical
Components Manufacturers Association (HKCCMA).
Most of participants gathered at the entrance of
HKPC, after taking the first group photo, the tour started the
journey at 8:20 am. On the way to Shenzhen, the Program Leader Mr.
William Yim introduced the programme run down and invited the
Tour Leader Mr. Bernard Zau and Deputy Tour Leader Mr. Henry Kan
to deliver a speech. HKPC Sr. Principal Consultant Mr. SL
Law was also invited to update about the industry trends of
lead-free soldering.
The Tour arrived the China Shenzhen High-Tech
Trade Fair Exhibition Center at 9:3 am, we found this 5 th
China International Optoelectronics Expo (CIOE) very
large, there were six
Exhibition
Zones with 53,200 sq meters total areas and 2,750 international standard
booths, including a Hong Kong Pavilion in which HKOEA, AHKEA,
HKPC, HKSTP and some other Hong Kong Optoelectonics companies
were having booths there.
The Tour members spent three hours in the CIOE, they were
impressed by the fast development of Optoelectronics in China,
and this CIOE has been the largest Optoelectronics exhibition in
the world.
The tour have had a nice Networking lunch at the Phoenix
Restaurant inside a famous hotel in Shenzhen.
After lunch, the Tour visited a world class
Optoelectronics manufacturing services company -
Photonic Manufacturing Service Limited located in
Shenzhen Futian Free Trade Zone. Dr, John Tsun, VP of the
company introduced the company, presented the
business trends of Optoelectronics, gave the Tour a
factory tour to their production line, office, labs and some
world class equipment, etc. and answered some questions from the
Tour members.
After the factory tour, the Tour returned to
Hong Kong and the fruitful Optoelectronics day was ended.
