The first visit was Solomon Systech (International) Limited which is a public listed company. She is a leading fabless semiconductor company specializing in the design, development and sales of proprietary IC products that enable sophisticated display applications such as mobile phones, handheld devices and LCD TVs.
CEO of the company, Humphrey Leung gave us a warm welcome and explained the latest technology and products of the company.

HKSTP offers a comprehensive range of services to cater for the needs of industry at various stages, ranging from offering a series of management and technical support programmes; nurturing technology start-ups support; providing advanced facilities and support services in the 22-hectare state-of-the-art Hong Kong Science Park for applied R&D activities; providing land and premises in the three Industrial Estates totaling 239 hectare for hi-tech manufacturing. |
 The next stop was the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation. |
 The CEO, Mr. Carlos Genardini gave us a warm welcome and introduction of the HKSTP. |

Mr. Genardini welcome Hong Kong companies to make use of the Science and Technology Parks infrastructure as well as networking for R&D projects. Any idea for commercialization is highly respected.
Mr. Genardini was invited as speaker at our networking dinner in March, 2007 to let more AHKEA members know the world class facilities at HKSTP. |

The third stop was at the IC Design Centre headed by Dr. Poon. The Design Centre is tightly secured. No photo is allowed.
We have to follow the rules to keep everything we saw in our mind. It is really the state-of-the-art facility for IC design. The Centre provides services to companies in Hong Kong. |

Lunch Break
After a few hours moving around the concrete forest, the delegates were tired and took the opportunity to have lunch break. There was a Chinese restaurant in the Science Park. A table was reserved.

SAE Magnetics (H.K.) Ltd is the largest independent manufacturer of magnetic recording heads for hard disk drives being used in computers and increasingly, in consumer electronics such as digital video recorders, MP3 players, or even mobile phones.
Dr. Lo gave a brief introduction about the company and had detail explanation about the products.

All participants were astonished by the giant investment of hi-tech facilities in the Science Park and the world class tenants. It is an excellent opportunity for SME and young companies to learn from the successful cases of these tip-top companies. Everybody expressed that the trip was wonderful, fruitful and exotic.
