Hong Kong Electronics Fair 2006

Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) and electronicAsia 2006 was kicked off by traditional lion dance at a ceremony attended by top industry players and officials.

Welcoming guests to the event, Dr Roy Chung, Chairman, TDC Electronics/Electrical Appliances Industry Advisory Committee, noted "It has already become the premier platform for industry players to source new products, search for business synergy and update the latest market intelligence."

Guest of honour, The Hon. Joseph W.P. Wong, GBS, JP, Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology, of the HKSAR Government, highlighted Hong Kong's attractiveness as a trade fair hub, given its well-developed infrastructure and strategic location, with access to markets on the Chinese mainland, Southeast Asia, Japan and Korea. "We are also a two-way springboard for companies wishing to expand into the mainland and for Chinese companies to launch themselves internationally."

The Fair attracted more than 2,000 exhibitors and over 40,000 visitors in the 4 days event. It is one of the largest of its kind in the region. AHKEA officials were invited as VIP guests and had a glance of the Fair. Snap shots of the Fair were taken. Some of AHKEA members were having their own booths showing their latest products.

Being the envoy of AHKEA, it was observed that Audio, Video, digital camera, automotive sound system and flat screen TV products were dominating the show ground. LED was one of the hot components. Many manufacturers are pushing their power LED for lighting applications. Green compliance was one of the aim for the product as well as manufacturing process improvement. This drove laboratory test services to a keen competition.

The buying atmosphere was warm. During the 4 days exhibitions, both exhibitors and visitors would have to win orders as many as possible through tough negotiations. AHKEA wished the electronics industry "Tomorrow will be better".
