Networking Dinner - April 2005

We have had a great time with 37 friends joined a Productivity & Quality themed Networking Dinner on April 29, 2005 at Four Seas Restaurant, Li Ka Shing Tower, PolyU, Hung Hom. It was our honor to have four committees/members of Project Management Institute Hong Kong Chapter participated in this dinner, and also very pleased to have several friends joined us for the first time.  

The dinner started at 7:45 pm. After welcoming remark delivered by Chairman Mr. Robert Li,  the following two talks were presented:

1. Mr. Kelvin Chui, VP of  PMI Hong Kong Chapter,  topic - Project Management.

2. Dr. Aaron Tong, Managing Director of TQM Consultants  Co., Ltd.,  Chairman of AHKEA's 
   Quality & Productivity Solutions Group, topic - Lean 6 Sigma

Participants were very interested in the two excellent talks, and have raised some questions during Q & A session.

During the AHKEA affairs updating session, Secretary General & Executive Director Mr. Stephen Pong welcomed all new friends joined AHKEA Networking Dinner for the first time, and introduced the following new members and invited them for a short introduction of themselves:

1. Mr. Joly Lai, Director of Kince Worldwide Co., Ltd. - Patron Member
    Kince is a automation machines & equipment provider since 1988, specializes in Kead free 
    soldering machines, solder paste printing machines and some inspection devices/systems. Mr. Lai 
    is appointed as Vice-Chairman of AHKEA's Tools/Equipment/Plastics Solution Group, he was 
    one of  the speakers of WEEE/RoHS Implementation seminar that was held on April 27, 2005.

2. Mr. Jesse Lee, Managing Director of Global Supply Services Ltd. - Corporate Member
    Mr. Lee was the Chairman of Hong Kong Professional Purchasing Association (2001 - 2003), he
    has taken up a few senior executives positions of  Hong Kong industry in the past years. Mr. Lee
    has newly founded  Global Supply Limited this year and is providing marketing, sales and services 
    of equipments & materials in the industry.

3. Dr. Oliver Yau, Managing Director of Objective Solutions Limited - Corporate Member
    Dr. Yau's company is a company of group of companies of Objective Holdings Limited, Objective 
    Solutions Limited and Objective Management Consulting, which was founded in 1989 and is one 
    of the major manufacturing and trading management system and ERP providers in Hong Kong.

4. Mr. Ren Wei - B. Sc SXU, MPhil HKU, PhD Candidate, Department of Physics, Hong Kong 
    University - Student Member
    Mr. Ren is the first Student Member of AHKEA from HKU.

5. Dr. Sunny Siu, President of Universe Holding Ltd. and President of China Information Industry 
    Association, also Honorary Chairman of AHKEA - Sliver Club Patron Member 
    Dr. Siu introduced his new business and two new companies - Universe Net Group Ltd. and 
    Universe Worldwide Publishing Group Ltd.

6. Mr. Gary Yu, CIO of Abas Solutions (PRC) Limited - Upgraded to Sliver Club Patron Member
    Abas is a Germany ERP Company providing complete business solutions (ERP, PPC, MRP & 
    eBusiness) for Hong Kong and PRC's industries. Mr. Yu is newly appointed as Chairman of 
    AHKEA's IT Solution Group, he gave all participants a souvenir during the dinner. 

Stephen  updated a few past events including the WEEE/RoHS Seminar held on April 27 at The Hong Kong CityU, and upcoming events in May. He also announced that for the upcoming May - July's Networking Dinner will be themed with Total Solutions, all Corporate Members are welcomed to present their products, services and solutions with a 10 - 15 minutes presentation during the dinners.

The MC Mr. Alan Kan also invited all participants to join the Hong Kong Linux Award 2005 organized by HKLIA, Office of the Government Chief Information Officer and HKPC, AHKEA is one of the co-organizers of this event.

All participants enjoyed this Networking Dinner and meeting new friends, as a result the dinner was gracefully ended by 11:00 pm.
